What an interesting time we’re living in! Together, we are experiencing brand new terrain. It’s natural to feel at least a little uneasy when facing the unknown. But the reality is, life is ALWAYS uncertain. There are no guarantees. So perhaps we’re all coming to terms with the truth. Our human lives are fragile. Yet, we trick ourselves into thinking that life will somehow stay the same and last forever. Coronavirus is bringing to light what is real and important. It’s showing us who and what matters most when everything else is stripped away. My hope is that you’re reflecting, with gratitude on those important people and things you still have access to.
You can choose to look at this unique situation from many different angles. From the eyes of fear, it’s terrifying to see people sick, dying and losing their jobs. From the eyes of hope, this is an opportunity to come together, learn and grow. From the eyes of love, you feel compassion for everyone who is suffering and look for ways you can contribute to the solution. It’s important to keep an open mind to all perspectives while remaining neutral. No one is right. No one has all the answers. Everyone is doing the best they can with what they know. This is not the time to criticize or judge. More than ever, you need to practice patience, empathy and trust with yourself and others. Almost everyone in America has been given permission to slow down. Most of us have an excuse to take somewhat of a break. If this includes you, perhaps this is something you’ve been asking for on a subconscious level. Think about it. Have you been secretly wishing for more vacation, self-care, or time at home? In the West, we push ourselves to extreme levels for the sake of success and money. If you’ve been feeling burnout over the past few months or years, maybe this is exactly what you need. I believe you decided to come to the planet to experience this. How can you embrace it? Coronavirus aside, what do YOU need most right now? Remember: There is no right or wrong answer here. May our thoughts and prayers go out to those who need them most right now.Let us not forget the people who are working harder than ever like healthcare workers, janitors, truck drivers, and parents taking care of their children. My heart goes out to business owners, schoolteachers and staff, anyone in the service industry, people who’ve lost their jobs, the sick and the elderly. It’s easy to get consumed by how the pandemic is affecting you. But did you know when you pray for others, you also benefit by receiving the energy of the blessing? Unplug from social media, turn off the TV and take time to send healing thoughts to humans who are suffering. It really does make a difference. By upgrading your frequency, you elevate the frequency of the planet. Soon, this will all be over. You will never be in this same situation as the person you are now. What do you want to do with what you’ve been given? How do you want to be? Will you be a bright light in the darkness, or a dark cloud on an already gray day? This is your chance to wake up. Do not fall asleep on your life. Use this to become more aware of who you are and your role on the planet. We are moving into the Aquarian Age and we need you to be fully conscious of how you’re showing up. Take this opportunity seriously. You’ll be more than happy you did. “Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.”
-Yogi Bhajan How do you begin to understand the times we’re living in? This is a nearly impossible task. You could do years of intense research, traveling down the deepest rabbit hole, and you still might not have all the facts. There are a million different ways to look at the same situation. No one actually knows what’s going on in the world and why we’re here to experience it. By now, you’ve learned you have very little control over what’s happening to you. Yet, you have a relationship with everything you’re experiencing. So, how do you navigate this strange terrain? As Yogi Bhajan puts it, “Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.” This is the 4th Sutra of The Aquarian Age. These words of wisdom are essential for getting through this challenging period with grace. Every person is coping with life in a unique way. We all have our individual stories, affairs, traumas and expectations. There are many factors that determine your particular perspective and how you deal with it. Because you only really know you, it may be difficult to understand another person’s point of view, especially if it’s drastically different from your own. This can cause unnecessary pain and conflict if you forget the 4th Sutra. It never helps to judge or criticize something you don’t understand. Even if you strongly disagree with someone or something, the best thing you can do is have compassion. That doesn’t mean you don’t form your own opinions or fight for what you believe. Rather, put yourself in their shoes before you say or do something negative. Ultimately, this approach will make you smarter, happier and a much better leader. As you scroll through Instagram or watch the local news, be sure to remember this sutra, “Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times”. Remember that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have. The world really needs you to practice your compassion muscle. Walk away, turn it off or unfollow if you can’t let it go. These times call for us to wake up and step it up. Let’s make humanity proud. “There is a way through every block.”
-Yogi Bhajan In my last newsletter, I discussed the first of the five Sutras of The Aquarian Age written by Yogi Bhajan. These sutras are guiding principles used to elevate your consciousness and live a fulfilled life. Today, we’ll dive into the second sutra that states: “There is a way through every block”. In times of self-doubt, it’s extremely important to remember that there is a way through every block. There is more information at our fingertips (literally) than ever before. Your smartphone has the ability to research anything you could possibly think of. Yet, most of us still hold on to limiting beliefs like “I can’t” or “I don’t know how”. This sutra reminds you of your own inner power to figure anything out. Blocks arise in many different forms. They can look like relationship, career, health or other personal problems. When facing adversity, it’s easy to cling onto victim mentality. It can feel like life is happening to you instead of for you. Rather than giving up or giving in, remind yourself of this sutra. A simple affirmation like, “I CAN get through this!” will guide you towards the best solution for the situation. You get to choose and change your beliefs. Simply decide that there is a way through every block, and there will be. This is an attitude that you can try on and take home. Empower your life by making this sutra part of your mindset. You’ll quickly find yourself living with greater confidence and ease. “Recognize the other person is you.”
-Yogi Bhajan Every day, we are moving deeper into the Aquarian Age. With a New Age comes new values and words to live by. While the Piscean Age was ruled by ego, The Age of Aquarius is ruled by the infinite. As we inch closer to the year 2035, we’ll continue to find ways to relate to each other’s souls rather than our personalities. Thankfully, Yogi Bhajan, a Master of Kundalini Yoga gave us The 5 Sutras of the Aquarian Age to do just that. “Recognize the other person is you”, is the first Sutra Yogi Bhajan gave us. In a world where everything appears separate, it’s important to remember that we’re actually all the same. Even though on the surface we seem to be disconnected, at a soul level, we’re all connected. Each human is a different aspect of a larger whole and we need each other to grow and expand. It can be difficult to understand why people do things that don’t make sense. You may feel frustrated by another person’s choices and lifestyle. Rather than perceiving them as a threat, realize they are acting as a teacher who is showing you something about yourself. When you reach for the lesson instead of criticism, you can find growth opportunities in even the most challenging circumstances. This Sutra for the Aquarian Age is incredibly important and enlightening. Return to the words, “Recognize the other person is you” in times of doubt and confusion. You’ll quickly remember that you are not a victim. Rather, you are a co-creator of the life you are living. The characters that surround you were carefully chosen and placed in ways designed to help you grow into the best version of yourself. There’s nothing worse than getting sick. Blessings, Greta We all have subconscious thought patterns that limit us from our greatest potential. Thoughts like “I’m not good enough” or “I can’t” are ingrained in us at a young age. Even though we don’t consciously think these thoughts, they impact every aspect of our lives.
You may wonder why you aren’t achieving your goals or why you’re experiencing plateaus in your health, career or relationships. Even though you have the best of intentions, something doesn’t work out or you end up self-sabotaging. Somewhere along the way, you picked up a belief that is preventing you from getting where you want to go. The fastest and easiest way to clean your subconscious mind is through Kundalini Yoga and meditation. Your mind is like a dirty windshield full of 1,000s of thoughts that prevent you from seeing clearly. Through the science and technology of kundalini yoga, you’re able to get past what you are not to experience who and what you really are. Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness that began somewhere between 1,000 and 500 BC. It was originally a secret system known only amongst a few yogis. Yogi Bhajan who was a Master of Kundalini Yoga by the age of 16, brought the teachings to the West in 1969. Now, you can find classes all over the United States. Kundalini Yoga is unique in that it focuses more on mental flexibility than physical flexibility. Rather than doing a flow, you do kriyas. Kriyas are a specific and complete set of actions that produce a certain result. They were passed down to us through Yogi Bhajan from the great yoga masters and are not to be changed. However, you can do exercises for less but never more than the time listed. In a Kundalini Yoga Class, you can expect to do breathwork, meditation and kriyas (yoga sets) while listening to and sometimes chanting mantras. The mantras carry an ancient and healing sound current designed to target your subconscious mind. This sacred combination works to replace unhealthy thought patterns with better, healthier thoughts. In class, old thoughts and feelings may come up. That’s because you are processing and clearing away the blocked energy. Most students report feeling more energized, relaxed and clear-headed after class. Scientifically, Kundalini Yoga works with your endocrine glands which produce hormones to help your body function. The glands work with the nervous system, the endocrine system, the chakra system, other glands and the organs. The Pituitary Gland is known as the ‘Master Gland’ because it controls the entire glandular system which includes the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pancreas and reproductive glands. The Pituitary Gland secretes hormones that affect growth, blood pressure, protein synthesis, digestion, etc. Through the practice of Kundalini Yoga, you train your glands to secrete properly for optimal health and energy. Kundalini yoga is a spiritual but not a religious practice. A lot of Kundalini practitioners choose to wear white clothing. This is because white contains all colors and is known to expand your aura about 1.5 feet. Some teachers and students cover their heads. The reason is when the kundalini energy rises to the crown chakra, you can sometimes get headaches or spaced out. A head covering helps you to focus. Kundalini yoga is a healing technology that is available to anyone interested in experiences that establish an aligned relationship between the body, mind and soul. You could read for hours about what Kundalini Yoga is and how it works, but this is a practice that must be experienced. It’s unlike any other yoga or fitness program I’ve found. Once you start to tune into the kundalini energy that has been dormant inside of you for your whole life, you won’t want to turn back. For me, it was like waking up from a dark dream and realizing a new reality filled with so much love and light. It's not that all my problems have disappeared, I simply don't consider them problems any longer because I see them from a different perspective. I’ve never been more passionate about something in my entire life. The science and technology of Kundalini Yoga has healed me. My vision is to guide as many people as possible in healing themselves. That's why I'll continue to share these teachings with you. Stay tuned for quick yoga and meditations coming to your inbox soon. Blessings, Greta |
