There’s nothing worse than getting sick. Even though I’ve been around a ton of sick people the past few months, I’ve managed to stay pretty healthy. When I do feel something coming on, I’m able to turn it around pretty quickly. For this, I am very thankful!

I’m convinced my strong immune system has a lot to do with my consistent yoga and meditation practice. There are a few particularly helpful tricks you can use to prevent and ward off illness. Because I want you to be as healthy as possible, I’m going to share those with you today…

4 Easy Yogi Remedies for Cold & Flu Season:
  1.  Take a cold shower. I take cold showers every morning. They take some getting used to, but the benefits far outweigh the discomfort. If your throat is sore, make sure to get the cold water on your throat for at least a few seconds. It will make you feel much better.

  2.  Drink Yogi Tea. This magical drink is so good for your immune system and liver, too. If you’re sick, leave out the black tea to make it caffeine free. You can have it with or without milk and honey. Sip this all day, every day! Here is the recipe.

  3.  Do Dog Breath. This breathing exercise is great for cold and flu because it boosts your immune system. All you do is stick out your tongue and pant like a dog. Make time to do this for 2-3 minutes every day. Here are the specific directions.

  4.  Scrape your tongue. If you don’t already own a tongue scraper, buy one NOW. It’s extremely important to scrape your tongue morning and night to clear bacteria from your mouth. When you neglect to scrape your tongue, you’re more likely to get sick.

There you have it! If you do these 4 things consistently, it’s likely you’ll get sick less and for shorter periods of time.
